The Making House
Hi, welcome to
The Making House!
The Making House, is a creative workshop space in Burton on Trent, run and owned by me, Anna Roebuck!
The Making House is my studio and also a dedicated workshop space where you can learn and develop your skills in a variety of crafts. My aim is to provide high quality workshops that enable you to enhance your skills, support you in your creative journey and, of course, for you to leave with something you’re proud of.
Many of the workshops are taught by myself. I’m a qualified teacher and have been delivering creative workshops for over 18 years in many different formats. I also like to bring in guest tutors, so that I can offer new and exciting projects to support my programme.

Art and Jewellery
A little bit about who I am. I’m a mixed media artist, working in lots of mediums, but I’m best known for recycling plastics. I’ve been working in recycled plastics since setting up my first business Bags2riches in 2001.
Like many artists I have a portfolio practise; I make work to sell, create bespoke works of art and jewellery, teach workshops, deliver residencies, give talks and much more besides. No week is ever the same. My favourite bit is experimenting, designing and coming up with new ideas and one off pieces.
I make and sell a selection of jewellery and artwork
The colourful ‘Nocean’ range is created from recycled plastics using specialist techniques developed by myself.
‘Out of Line’ is a range of jewellery and artwork created from etched metals, it explores my love of drawing, particularly nature and industrial heritage.

Craft Club
Our weekly Craft Club is a key point in my week here at The Making House; in normal times we meet on Friday mornings from 10.30 until 12.30pm.
Craft Club is not a workshop, it’s a space for us to experiment, try out lots of new crafts and share ideas, but more than anything it’s a chance to meet up with other like minded people and have a good old chat! We take it in turns each week to introduce a theme and together work out what to do, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn‘t!!
In response to Covid – 19
We are consistently adapting to different Covid regulations; for January we’ll meet on Zoom. Booking is essential so please always check with Anna first; e.mail her at themakinghouse@gmail.com
Check out The Making House Craft Club for more information and/or book here
Parties
We offer a selection of craft parties or group bookings for adults. Sadly we can no longer offer children’s parties here at The Making House, but I can visit your home and deliver a crafty session there.
Check out the party page for more information
or email me at themakinghouse@gmail.com
Art Projects
I deliver projects around the country, predominantly based around recycling, in particular recycling plastics. I’ve worked in many settings from schools, to community groups to festivals to Young People’s Exclusion Units.
I’m always looking for new opportunities to work on collaborative projects too, so if you work with a school or community group and you’re interested in me working with you, please do get in touch!

Great, look forward to meeting you. We’re open Fridays and Saturdays 10 -5 and we’ve a preview evening this Friday 6.30- 8.30, if you want to come along. Do feel free to message me if you want to drop in any other time.
Hello anna, i called in on your shop in winshill was impressed. liked the log burners made from gas bottles have seen them in use in log cabins near notts and through trememdous heat out. can supply you with a few bottles if you want?
Hi Steve, I’m pleased you liked the shop! The gas bottle heater is made by a sculpter friend in Yorkshire, so it would be a bit far for him to come for gas bottles but many thanks for the offer. Check out his work, it’s fantastic! http://www.jasonheppenstall.co.uk/
Hello Anna
I was amazed with your work whilst window shopping in New Mills today . Your fish in Bartons window is superb and the seagulls very comical, especially the one you are asked to be aware of above you!!!! I especially like the recycled lamps and am wondering where you will be based in New Mills on the Sat. assuming you will be there …… Hopefully!
Thank you

Hi Ingrid, that’s great to hear!
Unfortunately I won’t be at the arts trail in person on Saturday. I can make the lights in to order in most colours and/or I can send you a picture of ones I have made up already. I’ll be collecting the fish and their feathered friends on Monday day and happy to drop things off to the local area.
