Carnival Phoenix

The Phoenix was created for a wonderful Carnival event at Rufford Craft Centre, which brought together the work and pupils of 8 Special Schools in Nottinghamshire.
We then had a fantastic day at Rufford, where all the schools got together to form a carnival procession; the sun shone, drums played and I think it’s safe to say, everyone had a great time.
Hopefully we’ll get photographic consents so that I can show the phoenix once it came to life, as that was the really special bit!
Redgate school
I had an absolute ball working with Redgate School to create our Phoenix from recycled plastic bags; the children all got involved creating the flames, feathers, head and eyes, we also did a little Samba dancing to get us in the carnival mood!
Much goes on behind the scenes, so a big thank you to Tracey Parr’s Artist Page for doing alot of the background work on the piece.
Oh and thanks to the arts team at Rufford for creating such a brilliant opportunity and event.
