Stitched Wire and Haberdashery Jewellery with Judith Brown

It’s great to be able to bring in guest tutors to deliver workshops here at The Making House. We’re really pleased to announce our workshop with Judith Brown.

About Judith

Judith Brown has been making jewellery since 2004, when she began hand stitching with wire; this technique was inspired by her studies of Embroidery at Manchester Metropolitan University. Since then her techniques have become more refined and she has developed collections of jewellery which have an elegant, nostalgic feel, and give new life to forgotten vintage haberdashery.

Her jewellery is exhibited and sold around the UK in galleries and shops including the British Museum, the Museum of London and the V&A
1. Stitched wire jewellery with haberdashery

Stitched Wire and Haberdashery Jewellery Workshop

is on Saturday 18th October 10am – 4pm, £60 including lunch and refreshments.

You will be able create your own unique jewellery by learning to stitch with wire to make intricate pieces with a lace like appearance.

Initially you will be able to make a necklace or earrings using this technique and a variety of coloured wires and beads and haberdashery. Then you will be able to spend time making further pieces with haberdashery including hooks and eyes, press studs and buttons and a range of findings to finish off your work into something wearable.

You should be able to complete more than one finished piece during the workshop. All materials and equipment will be provided, though you are welcome to bring your own haberdashery treasure that you’d like to upcycle.
